Volunteers have set up a "Quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)" Service Center on a busy street inside Sydney's Chinatown. For many Chinese people, Chinatown is a "must see" while visiting Sydney, Australia.

According to Ms. Xue, the person in charge of the Service Center, since opening in March 2005, many Chinese people had used the Center to resign from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Ms. Xue said that more and more Chinese people were coming into the Center to find out why they needed to quit the CCP and once there, many of them did. Ms. Xue has been a volunteer there since the Center opened. Everyday she has provided materials and equipment that helps to display information explaining why people need to quit the CCP.

To begin with, most Chinese people couldn't understand what she was doing and why she was doing it. Three years later, everyday there are new people who stop by and learn about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. They have shown their support by signing a petition to call for the end of the persecution.

Ms. Xue said there is a growing number of people who request copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, the book that initiated the great wave of people quitting the CCP.

"The number of people who have quit the CCP and its affiliated associations is approaching 40 million," said Ms. Xue, "Added to that number, there are many people who live in rural China who can't get their withdrawal statement onto our website and that makes that number higher than the total we see."

Ms. Wang has helped at the Centre everyday for the past two months. Her job is to explain to the Chinese people why quitting the CCP is important and has helped many to do so.

"I knew the CCP well before I came to Australia. When I got here, I found the content of local Chinese newspapers totally absurd. There was a lot of language and thinking that came from the time of the Cultural Revolution and overseas Chinese were still under the CCP's control. The younger Chinese generation does not realize how evil the CCP is and take the propaganda for granted. I worry about them and that's why I am here everyday," said Ms. Wang.

Verbally Abused by Chinese Men

Volunteers explained that because the Service Center was located in Chinatown, the CCP is very afraid of it. After the catastrophic earthquake in Sichuan in May 2008, they organized their special agents and pro-CCP overseas Chinese to harass and assault volunteers at Service Centers around the world.

The Service Center in Flushing, NY, has been the main target of this attack. But the Sydney Service Center has not escaped harassment either.

A week ago five Chinese men came in while Ms. Wang and Mr Zhou, an elderly man in his 70s, were the only two volunteers there.

According to Ms. Wang, two of the men verbally abused Mr. Zhou, accusing him of shaming the Chinese by not helping in providing relief aid for the earthquake victims and instead wasting his time being at the Center to promote quitting the CCP.

Ms. Wang explained all the volunteers had donated money through the Red Cross because they did not want it to fall into the hands of corrupt Chinese officials.

During the interview, there were passers-by constantly stopping at the Center and asking for information. Some also signed the petition.
